The First Day after Christmas 12/26/2020: Glory Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the Purple 2 7/8″ squares & on the other TWO (2) sides by the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the Pink 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWENTY (20) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Nine-Patch sections. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch sections. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Green 2 3/8″ squares. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Nine-Patch sections as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the results of the Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
