Butterfly Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They will also create the center of this quilt block.)
- Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles. It will also be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They will also create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles. It will also be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles. It will also be the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. This quilt block only needs ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles. It will also be the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue/Blue Half-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) Butterfly Quilt Block to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
