This quilt features appliquéd girls and boys. You can sew the quilt as shown or customize to match the teacher’s classroom with number of students and number of girls and boys.
There are 30 quilt blocks that measure 8†finished & 8 1/2†unfinished.
As an added perk, you can have the students sign a block, in the white background of the block. The rows and number of blocks are easy to adjust to customize!

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Dk. Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Dk. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
- Dk. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re then paired with the Cyan Blue 2 3/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. Which will create a “frame” around the Blue 4 3/4″ square in the center of this quilt block.)
