Shepherd’s Crossing Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Light Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by either the Blue 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips or the Blue 2″ x 5″ strips.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ strips. (These will flank the left or right Light Gray 3 1/2″ squares.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 5″ strips. (These will flank the top or bottom Light Gray 3 1/2″ squares.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will be flank either the White 2″ x 5 1/4″ strips or the White 2″ x 6 3/4″ strips to create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 5 1/4″ strips. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue 2 1/4″ squares to create Snowball Corners on one end, so these will become the FOUR (4) horizontal center strips needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 6 3/4″ strips. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue 2 1/4″ squares to create Snowball Corners on one end, so these will become the FOUR (4) vertical center strips needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square & with the results of the the Dk. Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 4 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Teal: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Teal: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

(These are paired with the Tan 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles.
