Tea Leaf Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Tan: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the lower left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the result’s of the White 7 1/4″ squares, which will create the TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. (This are flanked by TWO (2) of the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
- Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the third row from the top of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Tan 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the lower left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles to make this quilt block. (These will be flanked by the the result’s of the Tan 3 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Tea Leaf Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
