Cookies & Milk Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!Cookies & Milk Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be flanked by the results of the White 2″ squares & it’ll create a Square in a Square. It will also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Tan: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by the Mint Green 3″ squares . Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Tan: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the results of the Mint Green 3″ squares & the Tan 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Mint Green: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2″ squares. Which will help create a Square in a Square & be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Mint Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Tan 2 1/2″ squares & the Tan 5″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Mint Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles & will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by the Tan 2 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Tan 3 1/2″ square on TWO (2) sides & on the other TWO (2) sides they’ll be flanked by the Mint Green 1 1/2″ squares. Which will help create a Square in a Square & be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Mint Green 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles & will be flanked on TWO (2) sides by the Tan 2 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White 5 1/4″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Yellow 5 1/4″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 4 1/2″ squares & the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut THREE (3) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 4 1/2″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles. You only need FIVE (5) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut THREE (3) 4 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 4 1/2″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles. You only need FIVE (5) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the Peach 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TEN (10) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 4 1/2″ squares & the Pink 4 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Red 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Blue 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will flank the results of the Red 3″ squares on ONE (1) side & the results of the White 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (3) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank, on ONE (1) side, the Red 3″ squares. They will also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Blue 3″ squares & the results of the Red 3″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will flank the results of the Blue 4 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
