Ornate Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White 5 1/4″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Yellow 5 1/4″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 4 1/2″ squares & the Yellow 4 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

- Pink: Cut THREE (3) 4 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 4 1/2″ squares, which will create SIX (6) Half-Square Triangles. You only need FIVE (5) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the Peach 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TEN (10) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Purple 4 1/2″ squares & the Pink 4 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
