France’s Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12â€³ finished block (scant 1/4â€³ seam allowance):

Red: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares & with the results of the Tan 5 1/4″ square. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Tan 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Tan 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Youâ€™ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the Tan 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ Squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Youâ€™ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
Tan: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Tan: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Youâ€™ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

(These are flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, as well as the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares & the results of the Purple 2 3/8″ squares. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Youâ€™ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese. FOUR (4) of these Flying Geese will help create the center of this quilt block.)
