Mountain Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the center section of this quilt block which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the Quarter-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Quarter-Square Triangles & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
