You’re Just in Time to Participate in the September Quilt Dash!

Quilt Therapy Posted on September 20, 2018 by TK HarrisonOctober 14, 2018

Quilt Dash brings quilters to quilt shops, websites and blogs. I participate as both a quilt shop as well as a Quilt Dash member, so I can have the same fun as the rest of the Quilt Dash Members have, searching through sites to find a hidden image and when I find all of them, I receive a free quilt pattern!

I am also included in the drawing for a free coupon which could be for a dollar or percentage off of quilt fabrics or products. Another prize could be a choice of a free pattern. Now why in the world would you not want to participate in something that is so much fun, with a free quilt pattern and perhaps a prize, too?

September 2018 Quilt DashI absolutely love Log Cabin quilts! I love them so much, I made a Log Cabin quilt for my husband and I when we married. And 26+ years later, it’s still in great shape!

I also designed and made two log cabin quilts at my sister-site, BOMquilts.com. And to this day, I still have people who email me and thank me for these two patterns:

Join Me for the August Quilt Dash!

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 23, 2018 by TK HarrisonAugust 18, 2018

I have SO MUCH FUN each month, surfing online quilt shops, websites and blogs through Quilt Dash.

There’s always something new and different, something I can’t live without and something shiny that catches my attention…until I whip out my debit card and buy it. 🙂 And I’m never disappointed at my purchases, either!

If you sign up for a free account, participate in this month’s Quilt Dash and finish it, you will be the recipient of this FREE custom designed quilt pattern (see below). Phyllis says about her quilt, “Use your stash with this ‘Seasons of Autumn’ quilt for colorful appliqué leaves. Appliqué the leaves randomly by color on a pieced block of branches on a tree.”

Adventures in Quilt Photography

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 16, 2018 by TK HarrisonAugust 11, 2018

The ceilings in our living room are 7′ from front to back but they gradually peak and meet at 8′ in the center. When it came time to photographing this quilt, based on my Christmas in July 2017 at BOMquilts.com “Invite a Moose to Christmas” design set, it was quite a challenge! With my husband standing on one chair and our son on another, with both of their hands holding the quilt and both touching the ceiling, it was still too long for me to get a good photo of it.

Next call of duty was to hang it off our deck outside. At one end of our deck, there’s enough clearance for a person to walk under it, so that’s the end we chose. Again, with my husband and son holding the quilt from the top with the addition of my daughter and a friend holding the bottom, I commenced to firing off my camera in shuttering speeds to catch the good light.

When all I really caught…was air.

My Free BOM Quilt Pattern, “Botanical Beauty” Meets a Quilt Guild in Canada

Quilt Therapy Posted on August 2, 2018 by TK HarrisonAugust 2, 2018

My sister site, BOMquilts.com, has been in existence since 2006. The same time that this blog has been online. In all those years, I’ve had numerous quilt guilds, quilt groups and individuals ask me for permission to use my patterns. I always agree, giving them two conditions:

  1. You must give out my URL to each member who is participating in the project. If that isn’t feasible (usually because the members aren’t computer literate), when you print and/or copy my pattern, my website URL and copyright remain intact on the paperwork you hand out to those who are making my patterns.
  2. Send me a photograph (either a physical one or one attached to an email) of the finished products, with permission to post them here on my blog and/or on my BOMquilts.com’s website.

And in the past 12 years, NOT. ONE. SINGLE. quilt group or guild has sent me a photograph. Not one!

That is until a couple of months ago. There is a quilt guild in Canada who’s using one of my patterns, with the same conditions and permissions I’ve sent to numerous people throughout the past 12 years, as a mystery quilt. I do not want to name which pattern as, gee, it’s a mystery! I was flabbergasted when I received a photograph of the first set of blocks that they made! Speechless! I will show you the blocks after they’ve made three, so in two more months.

The other pattern by a group of quilters in Canada used “Botanical Beauty,” my 2016 block of the month quilt located at BOMquilts.com.

The quilt tops shown below were all made by the Haldimand Quilter’s Guild at Hagersville, Ontario, Canada

(ED: Don’t mind the wrinkles, it’s just the way the quilt tops were held when they were photographed.)
