Loni’s Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Aqua 4 1/4″ square & they’re also flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square. All are needed to create this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Salmon
3 1/4″ square & they’re also paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to create this quilt block.) - Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 2 5/8″ squares as needed to create this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Blue 2 5/8″ square on ONE (1) side. They’ll also be paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’ll be paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares. All are needed to create this quilt block.)
- Salmon: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to create this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Lt. Blue 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the Quarter-Square Triangles in the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re flanked by the results of the Salmon 4 1/4″ squares.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square & they’re also paired with the results of the Salmon 3 1/4″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles & will help create the center of this quilt block.)
