The Chief Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Sage Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with each other. Then they’re paired with the results of the Sage Green 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Sage Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create one-half of a Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Jade: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with each other. Then they’re paired with the results of the Jade 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Jade: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares.
- Turquoise: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 4 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Sage Green 2 7/8″ squares. Then they’ll be flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Jade 2 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
