Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of White 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Green 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the the results of the Purple 4 3/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Light Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Light Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Pink 4 1/4″ squares, as well as the results of the White 3 1/2″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ squares, which will create the ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block. It’ll be flanked by the results of the Peach 4 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Peach 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Pink

  • Purple: Cut FIVE (5) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

Flower Star Variation Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!Flower Star Variation Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Orange: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch Square. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, which will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Orange 2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Orange 2 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch Square. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Orange 4 1/4″ squares, which will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the the results of the Orange 4 1/4″ squares & the White 4 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
