Danish Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares. Then they’ll flank the results of the Red 5 1/4′ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Gold: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Gold 1 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 1 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Gold: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Gold 1 1/2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’re also paired with the Gold 1 1/2″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides by the Red 1 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired on TWO (2) sides with the Gold 1 1/2″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Red: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 1 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Blue 1 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ square. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the Gold Snowball Corners. They’re also flanked by the Red Snowball Corners. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Blue 1 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 2 7/8″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
