Star Power: Crossroads Star Quilt Block & Crossroads Star Variation Quilt Block

Crossroads Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Pink: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Purple: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Pink 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “Crossroads Star Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Green: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. This block only uses TEN (10) of these triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Quarter-Square Triangles is the center of this quilt block as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
White: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Maroon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Maroon: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust/White Half-Square Triangles & they’re also paired with the Maroon/White Triangle. ONE (1) of them is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the White 3″ squares. They’re also paired with the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles. All together they’ll create TWO (2) Four-Patches as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Lt. Blue 3″ squares & they’re also paired with the White 3″ squares. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. All together they’ll create TWO (2) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Purple 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Purple 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the upper right-hand & the lower left-hand corners of this quilt block.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are are paired one ONE (1) side with the results of the Purple 3 3/8″ square. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired one ONE (1) side with the results of the Purple 3 3/8″ square. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are are paired one ONE (1) side with the results of the Purple 3 3/8″ square. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Purple: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the vertical center of this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 3″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 3″ squares. They’re also paired with the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles. All together they’ll create TWO (2) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
