Space Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- Orange: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White
2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Green 2 1/2″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.) - Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White
2 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Orange 4 7/8″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.) - Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, in the center of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These triangles are paired with the Green 2 1/2″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the Orange 4 7/8″ square. When all sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These triangles will flank the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the Orange 4 7/8″ square. When all sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese in the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Blue 3 3/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.
