Square Star Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Lt. Pink: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Blush: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Pink 3 1/4″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ square. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles.)
- Bright Pink: Cut FOURTEEN (14) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-EIGHT (28) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- Bright Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Blush 3 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ square. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut FOURTEEN (14) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Bright Pink
2 3/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-EIGHT (28) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. - White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Quarter-Square Triangles in the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Blush 3 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the Bright Pink 3 1/4″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These will “frame” the left-hand & the right-hand sides of the center of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 9 1/2″ rectangles. (These will “frame” the upper & the lower sides of the center of this quilt block.)

Sew TWELVE (12) “Square Star Quilt Blocks” to end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished & 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

- Purple: Cut FOURTEEN (14) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWENTY-EIGHT (28) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
