Trekkie Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Trekkie Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Rust: Cut TWENTY (20) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. These Four-Patches will also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 4 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese, in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White:  White: Cut SIXTEEN (16) 1 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust 1 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quit block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust/White Flying Geese in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: : Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese, in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. This is the center of this quilt block.)

  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 7 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue/White Flying Geese in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles will flank the Rust 2 5/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. Once sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut ONE 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Rust 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Orange: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Peach 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange/Peach Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. Once all are sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Orange 2 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired on ONE (1) side with the Yellow/Gold Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired on ONE (1) other side with the White 3 3/8″ square.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on ONE (1) side with the Gold
    3 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Orange 3 3/8″ squares. In addition they’re paired with the results of the Gold 2 7/8″ squares.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Then they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Gray 5 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
