Grandma's Prize Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Grandma’s Prize Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 2″ squares.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (TWO  (2) of these are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. The remaining TWO (2) are paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Yellow 2″ squares. The they’re paired with the results of the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares.)

Vermont Hills Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Vermont Hills Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Aqua: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 8″ square. (This is paired with the White 8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles are needed for this quilt block. The Half-Square Triangle is also the center of this quilt block & it’s surrounded by the rest of the smaller Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 3 1/4″ squares which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Aqua 8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles are needed for this quilt block. Square Dance Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut SIX (6) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Fuchsia 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles that’ll “Frame” the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Pink/Fuchsia Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ x 7 3/4″ rectangle. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Fuchsia: Cut SIX (6) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Fuchsia/Pink Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired on ONE (1) other side with the Pink 2 7/8″ squares.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles.)

Fish Basket Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Jade: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White
    6 7/8″ square that’s in the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Jade: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These rectangles are paired in ONE (1) end with the White 3 1/2″ square that’s in the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the Jade/White Half-Square Triangle that’s in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Jade: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 6 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Half-Square Triangle. Once it’s sewn together it’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square.  (This is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. It’s paired one TWO (2) sides with the Jade 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Jade 3 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. Only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles is needed for this quilt block. Once the Half-Square Triangle is sewn together it’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.Will yield TWO (2) triangles. Only ONE (1) of these triangles is needed for this quilt block. (This triangle is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. It’s paired with the results of the Jade 3 7/8″ square.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (This is the center “kiss” of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green 1 7/8″ squares. Once sewn together they’ll create a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dk. Green 1 7/8″ x 4″ rectangles which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Dk. Green 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ rectangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll create a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Dk. Green 1 7/8″ x 4″ rectangles.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 2 5/8″ rectangles in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares.  On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x 2 5/8″ rectangles which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 2 5/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. Then they’re paired with the Dk. Green
    1 7/8″ square “kiss” in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ squares.)
