Crazy Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Crazy Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are first paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Mint Green 4 3/4″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are first paired with the results of the White 5 3/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Yellow
    4 3/4″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Mint Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are first paired with the results of the Yellow 5 3/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 4 3/4″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 3/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are first paired with the results of the Mint Green 4 3/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the White 4 3/4″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 6 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 6 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Grey 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. Annie’s Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create an additional EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create an additional EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.

Annie’s Star Variation Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 7 1/2 square. The results of the White 3 7/8″ squares will flank ONE (1) other side of the results of the White 7 1/4″ square. Once all area sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Green
    3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) more Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
