The Old Grey Goose Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Grey 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 8 3/8″ squares. When sewn together with the results of the Lt. Green 4 3/4″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 8 3/8″ squares. When sewn together with the results of the Lt. Blue 4 3/4″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Grey: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Grey: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time.
