Tangled Briars Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Maroon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Maroon: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust/White Half-Square Triangles & they’re also paired with the Maroon/White Triangle. ONE (1) of them is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Maroon 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 4 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Maroon 4 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “Tangled Briars Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Rolling Pinwheel Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
  2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Orange: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
• Orange: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Yellow/White Flying Geese as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Orange/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Yellow/White Flying Geese as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Yellow 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (2) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides, with the Orange/White Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Dk. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, then they’re paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares.  (These are paired with the Dk. Blue 2 7/8″ squares, then they’re paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired on TWO (2) sides by the Dk. Blue
  2 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired on the other TWO (2) sides by the White 2 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Square in a Squares. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block when sewn together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
