Flying Cross Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 1 7/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)
• Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. Then they’re paired with the White 1 7/8″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. Next they’re flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with FOUR (4) other 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with FOUR (4) of the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
