Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 1 7/8″ squares in the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. Then they’re paired with the White 1 7/8″ square that’s in the center of this quilt block. Next they’re flanked by the results of the Blue 3 1/4″ square as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with FOUR (4) other 1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with FOUR (4) of the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

If you sew TWELVE (12) “Flying Cross Quilt Blocks” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
I love all your blocks, so far have downloaded two, my ministry is making large lap quilts for nursing homes, children at our church, quilts for the Mothers and few husbands, I just want to make all the blocks, thank you for sharing. God bless you
