On Cloud Nine Bonus! Night Vision Quilt Block!

Night Vision Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Night Vision Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are flanked by the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the Purple 4 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Purple 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Aqua 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. When sewn together with the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares, they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’ll flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. Together with the results of the Purple
    4 7/8″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these HST’s are TWO (2) of the corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gray: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these HST’s are TWO (2) of the corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 6 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Sage Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with each other. Then they’re paired with the results of the Sage Green 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Sage Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create one-half of a Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Jade: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with each other. Then they’re paired with the results of the Jade 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Jade: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create one-half of a Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Turquoise: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 4 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Sage Green 2 7/8″ squares. Then they’ll be flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Jade 2 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ x 12 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Turquoise 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners.)

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the White 4 3/4″ squares.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink & White Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 3/4″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 3/4″ square in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the FOUR (4) 4 3/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’re also the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Pink 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Aqua: Cut TEN (10) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles which will create TEN (10) Snowball Corners. TWO (2) of these Snowball Corners will be in the center of this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these Snowball Corners will be in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut FIVE (5) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Aqua 1 7/8″squares which will create TEN (10) Snowball Corners. TWO (2) of these Snowball Corners will be in the center of this quilt block. FOUR (4) of these Snowball Corners will be in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White squares that have the Aqua Snowball Corners in them.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank TWO (2) sides of the White squares that have the Aqua Snowball Corners in them.)
