Night Vision Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are flanked by the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the Purple 4 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Purple 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
- Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Aqua 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. When sewn together with the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares, they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
- Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’ll flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. Together with the results of the Purple
4 7/8″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
