Campaign Trail Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Rust 3 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Orange
    3 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Orange: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Gold 6 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the 3″ x 3 1/3″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 6 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Rust: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Orange 1 2/2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the Brown 3 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll become the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the center Quarter-Square Triangle & will create ONE (1) Square in a Square as needed to sew the center of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch corners as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the Pink 3 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll become the center of this quilt block.)
  • Brown: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Brown 2″ squares & will create FOUR (4) Four-Patch corners as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Brown 7 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Aqua: Cut TEN (10) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWENTY (20) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these HST’s are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Teal: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When all FOUR (4) of the HST’s are sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TEN (10) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Aqua 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWENTY (20) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these HST’s are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Teal 4 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When all FOUR (4) of the HST’s are sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut THREE (3) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (TEN (10) of these triangles are paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these QST’s are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. ONE (1) of these QST’s is the center of this quilt block. The remaining TWO (2) triangles will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ square in the center QST.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create one-half of SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create one-half of SIXTEEN (16) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 3 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (TEN (10) of these triangles are paired with the results of the Red 3 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these QST’s are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. ONE (1) of these QST’s is the center of this quilt block.
