Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block)
  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow & Gold Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 3/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    2 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White
    4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Gold & White Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Peach: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 3 7/8″ squares, as well as being paired with the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ squares. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 2 5/8″ squares. In addition to being paired with the results of the Rust 7 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Peach 2 5/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares. Friday Funday! The Allatoona Quilt Guild made my “Midnight Stargazer” BOM Quilt!

The Allatoona Quilt Guild from Acworth GA made my 2020 “Midnight Stargazer” BOM Quilt this past year!

The guild started 39-years-ago! About 12 women formed it & meetings were held in a quilt store. Now they have grown to about 100 members!

They used to hold monthly meetings, where they hand out the instructions, for the BOM quilt they are making. However due to Covid-19 they are not able to meet, so every month they were sent the instructions & each of the participating guild members made their “Midnight Stargazer” quilt blocks.
