Lover's Locket Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Lover’s Locket Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Teal: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Bright Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Teal 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Additionally they’re paired with the Gray
    2 1/2″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Bright Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Bright Pink
    2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Teal 2 1/2″ squares. Additionally they’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Gray: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Gray: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (TWO (2) of these rectangles are the upper right-hand & lower left-hand corners of this quilt block. All are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Bright Pink 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 1/2″ squares. (TWO (2) of these are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. The remaining FOUR (4) of these rectangles are paired with the Gray 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Lt. Red 6 7/8″ squares & will create a Four-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Lt. Red: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares. They’re also the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Red: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the Pink 6 7/8″ squares & will create a Four-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Lt. Red 7 1/4″ squares. They’re also the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the White 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles are in the center of this quilt block. The remaining EIGHT (8) of these Half-Square Triangles, will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block, as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut TEN (10) 2 1/2″ squares. (When EIGHT (8) of these squares are paired with the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles, these squares will help create, the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. When the remaining TWO (2) squares are paired with the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles, they’ll create the center of this quilt block, as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create TEN (10) Half-Square Triangles. TWO (2) of these Half-Square Triangles are in the center of this quilt block.
