Shuttles Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Orange: Cut TWELVE 2 1/2″ squares. (ONE (1) of these is the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block. ONE (1) other of these is the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block. All of them are paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Blue: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Blue: Cut THREE (3) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create THREE (3) Square in a Squares. ONE (1) of these Square in a Squares is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) of these Square in a Squares is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. ONE (1) more is the center of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Blue 3 3/8″ squares, which will create THREE (3) Square in a Squares. ONE (1) of these Square in a Squares is the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block. Another ONE (1) of these Square in a Squares is the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block. ONE (1) more is the center of this quilt block.)
