Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

• Rust: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ square in the center of this quilt block. They’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square as needed to sew it together.)
• Rust: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. Then they’ll flank the results of the Orange 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Rust: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. Then they’ll flank the results of the Orange 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These rectangles are paired with the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares. Then they’ll flank the results of the Orange 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the Rust 5 1/4″ squares. As well as being flanked by the Orange 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
• White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
• White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
• White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Rust 2 3/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
