Friendships Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 1 7/8″ squares & the White 1 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. Together they’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x
    3 3/8″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    3  7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares & the White 1 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. Together they’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ x
    3 3/8″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the White
    3  7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares & the Pink
    1 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. Together they’ll also create the center of this quilt block)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ x
    3 3/8″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re going to flank either the Pink & Yellow 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles.
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank either the Yellow 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles, or the Pink 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ rectangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Red 2 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. These are paired with the results of the Red 2 7/8″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Pink 4 7/8″ squares. All together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Pink 4 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create one-half of a Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create one-half of a Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the results of the Pink 4 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Red 2 7/8″ square & they’re flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Rust
    2 7/8″ squares. Together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create the final Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Rust 3 3/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is flanked by the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Rust 4 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Rust 3 3/8″ squares, as well as the results of the Peach 7 1/4″ squares. All are needed for this quilt block.)

  • Dk. Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Pink 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with either the Red 2 5/8″ squares or the Red 2 5/8″ x 6 7/8″ rectangles. Which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.

  • Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The other FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of the inside “star” pattern.)
  • Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ triangle, they’ll also be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ square. As needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 2″ squares in the corners of this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Dk. Green 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Flying Geese & will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Green 2 3/8″ squares & they’ll help create the corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the Flying Geese & the Green 2″ squares.)
