Christmas Garden Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The other FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of the inside “star” pattern.)
- Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ triangle, they’ll also be flanked by the results of the White 2 3/8″ square. As needed for this quilt block.)
- Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 2″ squares in the corners of this quilt block.)
- Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.
- Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Dk. Green 2 3/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Flying Geese & will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Green 2 3/8″ squares & they’ll help create the corners of this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the Flying Geese & the Green 2″ squares.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Christmas Garden Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
