Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Tan 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is the lower left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Tan: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Tan: Cut ONE 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is the upper right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 5/8″ x 13 7/8″ rectangles. (These will flank both sides of the results of the Green 3 7/8″ squares & the results of the Tan 3 7/8″ squares. Once you’ve sewn the quilt block together, then cut the excess fabric from these rectangles, off around the edges. So that your quilt block = a 12 1/2″ unfinished size.)
