On Cloud Nine: Rebel Patch Quilt Block

Rebel Patch Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the White 4 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 2 7/8″ squares. (FOUR (4) of these will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining EIGHT (8) of these are paired with a White 2 7/8″ square, which will create a Nine-Patch, in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. (These are be paired with the White 3 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 2 7/8″ squares. (ONE (1) of these squares will be the center of this quilt block. It’ll be paired with the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. The remaining FOUR (4) of these squares are flanked by the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/4″ squares. On the back side the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are be paired with the Blue 3 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Ash Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles & together they’ll form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square.)
  • Ash Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Ash Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Ash Green 2 5/8″ squares & together they’ll form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square.)
