Tulip Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Tulip Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. After they’re sewn they’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create FOUR (1) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. Once they’ve been sewn together then they’re paired with the White 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 2 5/8″ square in the center of this quilt block. Once it’s sewn together it’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 5/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the Pink 2 3/8″ squares. Once they’re all sewn together they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Dk. Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. After they’re sewn they’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create FOUR (1) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangles. (These rectangles are paired on the left-hand & the right-hand sides of the Pink/White Square in a Square. They’ll partially create a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These rectangles are paired on the top & the bottom of the Pink/White Square in a Square. They’ll partially create a “frame” around the center of this quilt block.)

Star Power: Castle Star Quilt Block & Castle Star Variation Quilt Block

Castle Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Castle Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Red 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Pink 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. Whey they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Pink
    3 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the Pink 3 7/8″ squares. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Red 3 7/8″ square that’s part of the Split Half-Square Triangle.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are between the Quarter Square Triangles that are part of this quilt block.)

  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White
    3 7/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are first paired with the results of the Blue 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re paired with the results of the Red 7 1/4″ square. When they’re all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles.)

  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square. Which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the results of the Lt. Blue 3 7/8″ square that’s part of the Split Half-Square Triangle.)

Easy Going Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Magenta 3 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. When sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 7 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Magenta: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Purple 3 1/2″ squares which will create ONE (1) Four-Patch. When sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Magenta: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 7 1/4″ square which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked on ONE (1) side by the results of the Purple 3 7/8″ squares. Then they’re flanked on ONE (1) other side by the results of the Magenta 3 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)

  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Rust
    3 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. When sewn together they’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Peach: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Peach/Rust Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. When sewn together with the Rust 3 7/8″ square they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Apricot 7 1/4″ square. When sewn together with the results of the Rust 3 7/8″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Peach
    3 7/8″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. When sewn together they’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These triangles are paired on TWO (2) sides with the Peach/Rust Quarter-Square Triangle in the center of this quilt block. When sewn together with the Rust 3 7/8″ square they’ll create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square.
