Spring Star Quilt Block Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Spring Star Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut FIVE (5) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 4 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 2 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 2 3/8″ squares, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the Green 2 5/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Nine-Patch in the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (TWO (2) of these are paired with the results of the Dark Blue 5 1/4″ & the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles. The remaining TWO (2) of these are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create TWO (2) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dark Blue: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. If you make TWELVE (12) “Stockyard’s Star Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dark Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Dark Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need two of these triangles to make this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Green 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Dark Green: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 3//8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Dark Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
