Aunt Sue’s Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, they’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
- Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White
2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Pink 2 1/2″ squares, they’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Pink 2 1/2″ squares, they’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Pink 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the Pink 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
