Mystery Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
- Rust: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
- Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Salmon/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew it together.)
- Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Salmon 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. All are needed to sew it together.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Salmon 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. All are needed to sew it together.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Rust
4 1/2″ square, in the center of this quilt block, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.) - White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Salmon/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
