Dublin Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Dublin Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut FIVE (5) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block when they’re sew together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares. They’ll also be paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Navy Blue
    2 1/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Navy Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Lt. Blue
    1 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Navy Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Nine-Patch. When sewn together they’ll also create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 1 7/8″ squares. They’re also paired with the White 3 3/8″ x 4 3/8″ rectangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Navy Blue 1 7/8″ squares as need to sew this quilt block together.)

Contrary Wife Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the remaining FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Teal/White Half-Square Triangles. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the Teal/White Half-Square Triangles. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches.)
  • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re also paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. When sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches.)
  • Teal: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. When sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Lt. Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Flying Geese. When all sewn together they’ll be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles, which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches & they’ll also help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the White 2″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square.   • Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the Gold

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. Then they’re paired with the results of the Green
    3 7/8″ square. Once sewn together they’ll create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These squares are paired with the Yellow 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. Once sewn together they’ll create TWO (2) Snowball Corners as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
