Summer Winds Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Yellow-Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Ash Green/White Half-Square Triangles on TWO sides. They’re also paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares on the other TWO (2) sides. Then they’re all paired with the Mint Green/White Half-Square Triangles & they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. All are needed to sew it together.)
Ash Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. These are paired with the Yellow-Green
2 1/2″ squares on TWO (2) sides. They’re also paired with the Mint Green/White Half-Square Triangles on the other TWO (2) sides & they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as are needed to sew it together.)
Mint Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. These are paired with the Ash Green/White Half-Square Triangles on TWO (2) sides. Then they’re paired with the Yellow-Green 2 1/2″ squares & they’ll create FOUR (4) Four-Patches. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as are needed to sew it together.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Dk. Green 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Ash Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. These are paired with the Yellow-Green

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Cyan Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. They’ll create a “frame” around the Blue 4 3/4″ in the square center of this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re then paired with the Cyan Blue 2 3/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. Which will create a “frame” around the Blue 4 3/4″ square in the center of this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s “framed” by the Cyan Blue 2 3/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. As well as the Blue/White Half-Square Triangles. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re then paired with the Cyan Blue 2 3/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. Which will create a “frame” around the Blue 4 3/4″ square in the center of this quilt block.)
White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Purple/White Half-Square Triangles in the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

Peach: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Rust 1 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. Then they’re flanked by the results of the Rust 5 1/4″ squares. All are needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Dark Salmon: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Rust 5 1/4″ squares. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. All together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Rust: Cut EIGHT (8) 1 1/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Rust 1 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Rust: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the White
1 7/8″ squares & they’ll also flank the White 1 7/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangle. When sewn together they’ll help create the center of this quilt block.)
Rust: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the 1 1/2″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners. They’re also paired with the results of the Peach 3 7/8″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
Rust: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Dark Salmon 5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square.
