Lone Tree Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut TWO (2) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ x 7 5/8″ rectangle, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. You only need SEVEN (7) of these Half-Square Triangles for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. ( This will flank the results of the Green 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these triangles for this quilt block. (This is paired with the results of the White 6 7/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.) - Green: Cut ONE (1) 1 7/8″ x 7 5/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Green 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)

- White: Cut ONE (1) 5 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. These are paired with the Green 1 7/8″ x 7 5/8″ rectangle as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green 6 7/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
Lone Tree Quilt
If you make TWELVE (12) “Lone Tree Quilt Blocks,” you’ll end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
