On Cloud Nine: Texas Treasure Quilt Block

Texas Treasure Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Texas Treasure Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Blue: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut SIX (6) 2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 2″ squares as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut TWENTY-FOUR (24) 1 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired together with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles, as well as the Red 2″ squares, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut TWELVE (12) 1 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 1 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY-FOUR (24) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

On Cloud Nine: Cedars Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s paired with the Green 2 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. It’s also paired with the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares. Sew them all together & they’ll create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Green 3 3/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Snowball Corners. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. When sewn together with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares, plus the White 2 1/2″ squares, they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (When sewn together with the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares, plus the Green/White Half-Square Triangles, they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (When sewn together with the results of the White
    4 7/8″ squares, plus the Green/White Half-Square Triangles, they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are sewn to the left, right, top & bottom of the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. Sew them together with the Green/White Half-Square Triangles & the White 2 1/2″ squares.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Quarter-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Ash Green: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need TEN (10) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Quarter-Square Triangles is the center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these Quarter-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. You only need TEN (10) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Ash Green 5 1/4″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Quarter-Square Triangles. ONE (1) of these Quarter-Square Triangles is the center of this quilt block. The remaining FOUR (4) of these Quarter-Square Triangles are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Navy Blue: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 9 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are flanked by the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares. They’re also flanked by the results of the Purple 4 7/8″ squares. When all sewn together they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Purple 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the Aqua 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These will flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. When sewn together with the results of the Aqua 4 7/8″ squares, they’ll create THREE (3) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ square which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ONE (1) of these HST’s for this quilt block. It’ll also be the lower right-hand corner of this quilt block.)
  • Aqua: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. You only need THREE (3) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’ll flank ONE (1) side of the results of the Blue 9 1/4″ square. Together with the results of the Purple
    4 7/8″ squares they’ll create FOUR (4) Flying Geese.)
