Peekaboo Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Peekaboo Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (precise 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut TEN (10) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 3/8″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining ONE (1) Square in a Square is the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the White 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Blue 2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FIVE (5) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are flanked by the results of the Blue 2 7/8″ squares which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Squares. FOUR (4) of these Square in a Squares are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. The remaining ONE (1) Square in a Square is the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 3 3/4″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Half-Square Triangles as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Yellow 3 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

  • Dk. Green: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Dk.Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 2 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 7/8″ rectangles. (These are flanked on one end by the Quarter-Square Triangles on ONE (1) end & on ONE (1) other end they’ll be flanked by the Lt. Green 2 1/2″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 2 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the Dk. Green 2 1/2″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut FOUR (4) 3 3/8″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 4 1/4″ squares, as well as the results of the White 4 5/8″ squares, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 4 1/8″ squares as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • Lt. Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will flank the Lt. Green 3 3/4″ squares as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the Dk. Green 2 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as is needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 1/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Lt. Green 4 1/8″ squares as is needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Gray 4 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Gray: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
    4 7/8″ squares to create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)

  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be for the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut ONE (1) 7 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It will be flanked by the results of the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Pink: Cut FOUR (4) 2 3/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the result’s of the Blue 2 1/4″ squares and the White 2 1/4″ squares which will make Half-Square Triangles needed for this quilt block.)
  • Pink: Cut TWENTY (20) 1 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These will flank all of the White rectangles, which will create SIXTEEN (16) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 2 3/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Pink 4 3/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ strips. (Both ends of these will be flanked by ONE (1) of the Pink 1 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 1 1/2″ x 7 5/8″ rectangles. (Both ends of these will be flanked by ONE (1) of the Pink 1 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball Corners, as needed for this quilt block.)
