Farmer’s Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Green: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These will be used in all four corners of this quilt block.)
- Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will be paired with the results of the Gray 4 3/4″ squares to create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle that will be needed for the center of this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut ONE (1) 4 3/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These will be paired with the results of the Green 4 3/4″ squares to create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle that will be needed for the center of this quilt block.)
- Gray: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square to create FOUR (4) Interrupted Quarter-Square Triangles needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These will be flanked by the results of the Gray 5 1/4″ square to create FOUR (4) Interrupted Quarter-Square Triangles needed for this quilt block.)

If you make TWELVE (12) “Farmer’s Quilt Blocks,” you will end up with the quilt top pictured above. The size will be 36″ x 48″ finished, 36 1/2″ x 48 1/2″ unfinished.
