Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares & the Gold 3 1/2″ squares. Which will create TWO (2) Four-Patch squares. They’re also the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 1/2″ squares & the Red
    3 1/2″ squares. Which will create TWO (2) Four-Patch squares. They’re also the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. (These are paired with the White 6 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the lower left-hand & upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 3 1/2″ squares & the Gold 3 1/2″ squares. Which will create TWO (2) Four-Patch squares. They’re also the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 6 7/8″ square. On the back side of each square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Orange 6 7/8″ squares which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the lower left-hand & upper right-hand corners of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Pink: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Purple
    5 1/4″ squares & the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Purple: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Pink
    5 1/4″ squares & the results of the White 4 7/8″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the White
    5 1/4″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Purple 5 1/4″ squares & the results of the Pink 5 1/4″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)

  • Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares  which will create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 4 7/8″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. You only need TWO (2) of these triangles for this quilt block. (These are paired with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Orange
    5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 4 7/8″ square. Which will create FOUR (4) Split Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles.   • Lt. Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Blue 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 4 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut TEN (10) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create TWENTY (20) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/8″ square.
  • Red: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ELEVEN (11) of these Half-Square Triangles for this block.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. (This is the “Chicken’s Body.”)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 2″ square. (This is the “Chicken’s Head.”)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 1″ x 2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the White 1 1/2″ x 2″ rectangle & is on top of the “Chicken’s Head.”)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. (This is flanked on FOUR (4) sides by the results of the Red 2 3/8″ squares. It’s below the “Chicken’s Body.”)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2 3/8″ square. On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 2 3/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut SIX (6) 2 3/8″ squares. On the back side of each square, draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 2 3/8″ squares which will create TWELVE (12) Half-Square Triangles. You only need ELEVEN (11) of these Half-Square Triangles for this block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These are the middle left-hand & right-hand sides of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut THREE (3) 2″ x 5″ rectangles. (ONE (1) of these is flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares. The remaining TWO (2) of these are the lower left-hand & right-hand corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ square. (This is paired on ONE (1) side with the Red 1″ x 2″ rectangle & the White 1 1/2″ x 2″ rectangle.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 1 1/2″ x 2″ rectangle. (This is paired with the Red 1″ x 2″ rectangle & is on top of the “Chicken’s Head.”)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 3 1/2″ rectangle. (This is flanked on TWO (2) sides, by the results of the White 2 3/8″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangle. (This is paired with on ONE (1) side with the Red 1″ x 2″ rectangle & the White 1 1/2″ x 2″ rectangle. And on ONE (1) other side it’s paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ square as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 2″ x 11″ rectangle. (This is paired with the results of the White 2 3/8″ square. It’s also the upper left-hand corner of this quilt block.)
