Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Ash Green: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles & together they’ll form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square.)
  • Ash Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 4 1/4″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square.)
  • Ash Green: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 5/8″ x 4 3/4″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Ash Green 2 5/8″ squares & together they’ll form a “frame” around the center Square in a Square.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 3 7/8″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Ash Green 3 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Ash Green 2 5/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Ash Green 3 1/2″ square which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 3 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. FOUR (4) of these Half-Square Triangles will be the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3 7/8″ squares.
