Four Corners Star Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Four Corners Star Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Red 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. All sewn together they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Red
    5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Red 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. All sewn together they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Red 2 1/2″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Red: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Red 5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the Yellow 5 1/4″ square. All sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. Will yield FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Orange
    5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • Orange: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Yellow 2 1/2″ squares. They’re also paired with the Orange 2 1/2″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the White 4 5/8″ squares which will create ONE (1) Quarter-Square Triangle. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block when sewn together.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. (These triangles are paired with the results of the Yellow
    5 1/4″ square. They’re also paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ squares. All sewn together they’ll create FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 4 5/8″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. Will yield TWO (2) triangles per square. Squares & Windmill Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block.)
  • Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Teal/White Flying Geese which will help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Teal: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These triangles are flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to help create the center of this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ x 9 1/4″ rectangles, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Blue: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew the Windmill in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Teal 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew the Windmill in the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the Teal 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • Teal: Cut FOUR (4) 4 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the results of the Rust 4 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Snowball corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Teal 4 1/2″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Snowball Corners, as needed to sew this quilt block together.
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square.
