Pineapple Plant Quilt Block is a Free Pattern for a 12" quilt block at QuiltTherapy.com!

Pineapple Plant Quilt Block

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with a White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. (This is paired with the White 3 7/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. There’s only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles in this quilt block.)
  • Dk. Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 9 7/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with a White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with a White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 9 7/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with a White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ x 12 3/8″ rectangle. (This is paired with a White 3 1/2″ square, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 7/8″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Dk. Green 3 7/8″ square, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles. There’s only ONE (1) of these Half-Square Triangles in this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Yellow 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangle, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Dk. Green 3 1/2″ x 9 7/8″ rectangle, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/2″ square. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (This is paired with the Green 3 1/2″ x 6 7/8″ rectangle, which will create ONE (1) Snowball Corner, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Lt. Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Blue 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Four Patches. All together they’re the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • Blue: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Lt. Blue 2 1/2″ squares & they’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. Which will create FOUR (4) Four Patches. All together they’re the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Rust: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This is the center of this quilt block. It’s flanked by the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew it together.)
  • Rust: Cut TWO (2) 4 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the results of the White 5 1/4″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square, as needed to sew this quilt block together.)
  • Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Salmon/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew it together.)
  • Salmon: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Salmon 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. All are needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Salmon 2 7/8″ squares which will create EIGHT (8) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Salmon 2 1/2″ squares & will help create the FOUR (4) corners of this quilt block. All are needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These triangles will flank the Rust
    4 1/2″ square, in the center of this quilt block, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block as needed to sew it together.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ rectangles. (These are paired with the Salmon/White Half-Square Triangles as needed to sew this quilt block together.)

  • Orange: Cut TWO (2) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are the upper left-hand & the lower right-hand corners of this quilt block. They’re paired with the Red/White Half-Square Triangles. They’re also paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares. All together they’ll create TWO (2) Four-Patches as needed to sew it together.)
  • Orange: Cut ONE (1) 4 7/8″ square. (These are the lower left-hand & the upper right-hand corners of this quilt block. These are paired with the White 4 7/8″ squares, which will create TWO (2) Half-Square Triangles, as needed to sew it together.)
  • Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’re paired with the Orange 2 1/2″ squares.
