On Cloud Nine: Ranger’s Pride Quilt Block

Ranger’s Pride Quilt Block




Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Gold: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Gold: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. (These are paired with the White 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Gold 5 1/4″ square, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. On the back side of the squares draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Gold 5″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles. They’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ x 6 1/2″ rectangles. (These will flank on TWO (2) ends, the results of the White 3″ squares, as needed for this quilt block.)

Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):

  • Mint Green: Cut ONE (1) 4 1/2″ square. (This will be the center of this quilt block.)
  • Mint Green: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 1/2″ squares, which will make FOUR (4) Four-Patch portions. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • Green: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square & then with the results of the Avocado Green 5″ squares. Which will make FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Avocado Green: Cut TWO (2) 5″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These are paired with the results of the Green 5 1/4″ square & with the results of the White 5 1/4″ square. Which will make FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are paired with the Mint Green 2 1/2″ squares, which will make FOUR (4) Four-Patch portions. They’ll also be the FOUR (4) corner’s of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles. (These are paired with the results of the Green
    5 1/4″ square & then with the results of the Avocado Green 5″ squares. Which will make FOUR (4) Quarter-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Green: Cut FIVE (5) 3 1/2″ squares. (These will be flanked by the results of the White 3″ squares, which will create FIVE (5) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • Blue: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You will end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) additional Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)

  • Yellow: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the White 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) additional Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut ONE (1) 3 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) times. You will end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These will flank the Yellow 2 1/2″ square, which will create the first Square in a Square, for the center of this quilt block.)
  • White: Cut EIGHT (8) 3″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the Orange 3 1/2″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Square in a Square’s, as needed for this quilt block.)
