Spinning Jenny Quilt Block
Cutting Requirements for 12″ finished block (scant 1/4″ seam allowance):
- Red: Cut ONE (1) 3 3/8″ square. (This is flanked by the results of the Yellow 2 7/8″ squares, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. It’ll also be the center of this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. (These are paired with the White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Red: Cut TWO (2) 5 1/4″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, TWO (2) time. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles per square. (These are flanked by the results of White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- Yellow: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the flank the Red
3 3/8″ square, which will create ONE (1) Square in a Square. They’ll also help create the center of this quilt block.) - Yellow: Cut ONE (1) 5 1/4″ square. Then cut the square diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with FOUR (4) triangles. (These are flanked by the results of White 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 1/2″ squares. (These are flanked on TWO (2) sides by the results of the White 2 7/8″ squares as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut TWO (2) 2 7/8″ squares. On the back side the square draw a diagonal line, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. (These are paired with the Red 2 7/8″ squares, which will create FOUR (4) Half-Square Triangles, as needed for this quilt block.
- White: Cut EIGHT (8) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Red 5 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8)Â Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
- White: Cut FOUR (4) 2 7/8″ squares. Then cut the squares diagonally, corner-to-corner, ONE (1) time. You’ll end up with TWO (2) triangles per square. (These will flank the results of the Yellow 5 1/4″ squares, which will create EIGHT (8)Â Flying Geese, as needed for this quilt block.)
